My record… such as it is… on the Velos
1. Over-pumped toilet: first day.
2. Off boat shoes worn onboard: second day.
3. Various items left in incorrect places: nearly every day.
4. Failing to secure every latch on every door before sailing: I’ve lost track…
5. Sandy towel on deck: I’ve forgotten which day this was, but I do remember using a dust pan to clean it up.
6. Cookie Crumbs from broken Caprice cookie - not technically my fault - I blame a bad pass from Alicia…
7. Getting blood on deck from an injured toe stubbed on deck fitting. I’ll forget it, not sue, if you forget minor stain on deck.
8. I may be responsible for the stain under the kayak, but if I need a defense, I thought I was acting environmentally correct: would have thought I deserved praise and I would have thought the eagle eye of Thanos would have spotted the cargo of said kayak. As I said I may have been responsible.
9. One lost pair of sunglasses - no charge - my fault.
10. One irreplaceable Pt. Richmond baseball hat, lost during a violent tack somewhere off Navaronne. I guess I’ll live…
11. One nearly lost kayak oar - to be fair I swam a great distance to rescue it and besides it could have been worst, I could have lost the kayak.
12. Finally I was lacking in all the pre requisite charm I possess while in the presence of Fred… BUT COME ON - I shouldn’t be judged on this - everyone disliked him!

So other than these small oversights my record is nearly perfect and after all we arrived back here in Lefkada with the boat not much the worst for wear…
And no one was killed although I can think of a ripe subject for a murder… can you??

This has been an extraordinary week. From the moment you greeted us, your hospitality has been exceptional, the food so varied, plentiful and delicious! The accommodation: spacious and easy for us all to live together for the week. As for sailing, the boat handles beautifully and I was comfortable even in high winds. Days of 8 hr. sail with force 5-7 provided marvelous days at sea.

I will never fail to marvel at your skills and even temperament even in the - to me - stressful experience of the incompetent Polish skipper! The experience of sailing in the Greek Isles has been a dream for decades and the beauty of this country. The graciousness of all we have met plus the fascinating history has made this a rich week indeed!

This has been the trip of a lifetime. Gene has long wanted to sail around the Greek Islands, and I thought it seemed like fun as well as exciting. And it has surpassed my expectations! Coming from the dry desert land of Phoenix, Arizona, we were thrilled that the sea life is beautiful and there is so much history here.

Although we’ve spent time on the ocean in Hawaii, California, Caribbean, Italy and Mexico, there is a unique flavor to this place that is equal parts romance, charm, and ancient history, and its beauty is unmatched as is the food.

Anastasia is a talented cook, which is an understatement. Not only was the food delicious, but the fact she can get it all ready together at the same time, in such a small kitchen, is astonishing. She has also been a gracious and kind hostess, helping if we needed anything.

Atilla did a great and even humorous job of captaining the boat. Though we felt rather dumb at times about sailing, he was very skilled and we always felt in good hands.

Anastasia also distinguished herself leaping across the boat to help crew and bouncing back down to the kitchen, often to a swinging stove, as the boat moved over the waves.

It was also fun to get to know Nikos, Kristina and Adonis and to learn more about Greece. They are all good English speakers, putting our lack of Greek language ability to shame.

Ios - Piraeus, 21 - 28 September 2014 (Cyclades Cruise)

What an amazing week! Everything was fabulous. The islands, swimming in the Aegean Sea. The sailing was amazing!! Anastasia is wonderful. She cooks fabulous food, gives great advice on where to go and what to do on the islands. She is very attentive and excellent at all of her duties on the boat. She is very confident with crewing as well.

Atilla definitely knows his stuff. We had some very big seas and some very big winds and it always felt safe with him as our captain. He was very good about showing us the plan and teaching us more about ocean sailing.

We couldn’t have asked for a better captain or cook/crew. The experience was truly amazing. We loved it!

We really enjoyed all the sailing with Stavros, the knot-tying lessons and winching races putting away the genoa and mainsail. The best week ever!

I just remembered the great Italian - Greek anchor war of 2014 at Fiskardo. We all laughed so much at the exuberance! Again the next morning, when the Italians started up as we were pulling up the anchor!

Hours of great sailing, charging along on Alexandros, covering some long distances. Some adrenaline for sure in the stronger winds, always felt safe and that you were in control.

Beautiful islands to visit and explore, especially the smaller ones… we dreamed of staying for months. And all the time cared for by Anastasia, great meals put together in a tiny kitchen while being bounced around. Meeting new friends, exciting sailing, trying new foods and wines, exploring new places… What a week.

Przeżyliśmy dużo wrażeń, zobaczyliśmy niezwykłe wyspy, żeglowaliśmy we wspaniałej atmosferze i przy pięknej pogodzie. Jedzenie było tak wspaniałe,że aż szkoda było je jeść. Only the British put cucumber in their drinks,
But it was really ‘not bad’!

The fish were biting and the wasps were drinking.
Our Polak chef cooked perfect Greek food!

Captain Thanos sailed the fair Velos across the seas.
And worried about his toilets…

Thanos and Alicja,

Thank you so much for a wonderful week! It was our first time as a family in Greece’s Islands. And thanks to you, it was magical! Together, the two of you made this trip so much fun!

The swimming holes were gorgeous, the water so clear! Though the water is salty, the sea became the best part of our day! The ports were adorable and loads of fun, and the variety of lifestyles and citystyles was amazing.

Thank you for being so hospitable with 5 children around, we know they are a lot to handle but you both were so patient and kind with them.
The food was amazing and it’s hard to cook for 9 different preferences, especially picky ones, but every day Alicia, you wowed us with your cooking!

We hope you know how wonderful you both are and how fantastic of a team you make.

Thanos and Alicia,

We can’t tell you how much fun our families had sailing with you for the past week. The ports were wonderful, the swimming anchorages were scenic, the food was extraordinary and your hospitality made it comfortable for all of us.

All of us have learned much about the Ionian Islands and the art of sailing. We also learned how to escape from the ‘couples sailing knot’ which will be valuable information for all of us to have in the future.

While we recognize that having five children on your boat at one time can create certain organizational challenges, you both showed a level of calm and patience that their parents rarely have. This was a truly special week. We all wish you fair winds and calm seas.

We hope to sail with you again soon.

Dear Thanos and Alicia,

What a wonderful week! It’s been an Aubergine Experience (not forgetting the Courgettes!!!). Our hosts have been a mixture of Action Woman and Captain Sensible. The sailing has been fantastic, getting to almost 10 knots!! 4 out of 5 first time sailors, thoroughly enjoyed it and none of us were seasick!

We would love to come back but are worried for our safety after Alicia’s close encounter with the Russian Mafia armed with a courgette and marigolds (to take care of the finger prints)! (Scorpios Island).

Lunch was superb EVERY day and something to look forward to all morning. The wind made for some great sideways sailing! Perfect week! Thank you very much for making it an unforgettable experience.

We will definitely be back! – if you haven’t swam to Thailand that is, Alicia!

One of our best holidays we have had! We wanted to do something special for Philip’s 60th birthday and knew he always wanted to return and sail the Ionian Islands again – as he had done 20 years ago – being with our 3 sons and their girlfriends – and in the company of Alex and Anastasia made his birthday one which he will always remember.

Anastasia – you are a little star, a fabulous cook and super hostess.
Alexander – you are first class captain and have taken us to some amazing beaches – so although we are all sad to be leaving we will definitely be returning one day! (if you can put up with our noise!!!)

For decades my wife Bobbi and I have wanted to sail the Greek Isles but were never in a position to do so.
Having heard of ANKO Cruises from a friend, all the pieces of the puzzle came together for us in this week’s adventure.
Our sailing companions were transformed into true friends by the week’s end. The experience of seeing the beauty of the Ionians under sail is indescribable to the uninitiated. And all of this under the expert seamanship of Alexander and Anastassia.

Thank you for making our first visit to Greece as Greeks, the most memorable possible. Nothing comes to mind that is more authentic than sailing the beautiful waters of the Ionian.

A good idea would be to have a pet or something! We felt like the crew probably has a lot of down time and could use something like a little dog.
Oh, and for a 21yr old, the girl can cook!!

Πόσο τυχεροί όσοι μαζί σας για πρώτη φορά γνωρίζουν αυτές τις γωνιές της Ελλάδας, μα πάνω απ’ όλα τη φιλοξενία δύο ζεστών ανθρώπων. Ανυπομονούμε να τα πούμε άμεσα το χειμώνα πλέον με κρασάκι (μπύρα μάλλον) αναπολώντας τις υπέροχες αυτές μέρες.

Dear Thanos and Alicia,

Thank you very much for making our stay with you on Velos so memorable and for treating us so royally. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and our only complaint is that one week is not long enough!

None of us could actually believe it when the week ended. It seemed that we had only just left Lefkas when we arrived back there yesterday. You have given us a holiday that we will remember with fondness for many years.

I have sailed under a few captains and you can tell immediately those who know what they are doing. I was impressed from the outset by your boat handling skills and the calm, unruffled approach you took to the various maneuvers required on a yacht.
As to Alicia’s cooking, well there are not sufficient superlatives in the dictionary to praise her skills. How she managed to create so many fabulous dishes day after day in a tiny galley defies belief. Perhaps my joke about you being a Time Lord was not so far off the mark after all. Together the two of you have found a way to master the fourth dimension!

I hope very much that we can meet again if you come to England and I know that we would all love to sail with you again.

Thank you for our wonderful week. Every day we enjoyed a different menu prepared with flare and care by Alicja. This is definitely the best floating restaurant or ‘best Greek restaurant’!!
Also every day we experienced The Thanos art of docking the boat – always with a glint in his eye and humor in his belly. Of course we always won!! :)

Where do I start, the sailing, cooking, scenery, sunshine, Velos, Thanos, Alicia, all fantastic. We have holidayed from Texas to Alaska, Weymouth to the Isle of Sky, but nothing compares with the Greek Islands; such friendly people, good food and more importantly no rain!

I had my 60th birthday on board and was made to feel like a king, even a birthday cake. Alicia's cooking is fantastic and Thanos pours a good gin & tonic, add the sunshine and warm sea and you have the perfect holiday.

Unfortunately we had two of our party that had to cancel but Tracie managed to fill the spare cabin with her exotic outfits and wonderful jewelry.

Thanos runs a strict ship but we still experienced the odd boll…ing particularly the day before the end when someone passed an undesirable item in the toilet and blocked the port side pump! The overall experience has been fantastic, Alicia’s cooking has been 6 star, in fact the whole trip is 6 star.

We will return and thank you Guy & Nino for the recommendation.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for a wonderful trip through the Argo-Saronic Islands. We had a fantastic trip! This was our first time in Greece and our first time living aboard a sail boat.

The first day from Athens to Aegina was force 6 and 7 winds. Two of us got sea sick and wondered what we got ourselves into! But afterwards the sailing was smooth and the days were pretty. We were glad we made it through the first day!

Alicia’s cooking is so wonderful, we have to call it out separately. So delicious! While some of out restaurant experiences were less than perfect, her cooking was always a welcome and balanced surprise. It was a highlight of the trip.

Thank you for hosting us on your boat and providing a local touch to every place we went. We loved this trip, and if you ever made it to the States, please let us host you.

Dear Thanos and Alicia,

Thank you again for our 2nd wonderful trip on Velos. There were lots of memorable moments such as watching the goats on the ledge, our trip ashore in the dinghy for dinner – followed by a wet trip back to the boat and the moonlight flit as the wind rose and the boat rocked!!
A visit to the cave was fantastic until the arrival of 400 tourists. However the highlight again was dinner under the stars cooked by Alicia.

Κουμπαράκια μας καλά!!

Όταν μετά από μέρες διαβάσετε τις γραμμές αυτές, ήδη θα ανυπομονούμε να ξανασυναντηθούμε. Είτε για λίγες ώρες στην Πάτρα για να προλάβουμε να οργανώσουμε κανα ταξιδάκι ή για ένα δείπνο σε κανα ταβερνάκι!
Κάθε φορά πάντως περιμένουμε αυτό το ταξίδι που είναι γεμάτο γαλήνη, ήλιο, καλή παρέα όμως πάνω απ' όλα.
Τι να πούμε για το ταξίδι, τα έχουν πει τόσοι φιλοξενούμενοι στις προηγούμενες σελίδες. Ένα μπορούμε όμως να πούμε...
Όταν υπάρχει αγάπη... όταν κάνεις κάτι με αγάπη τότε το αποτέλεσμα είναι ΦΑΝΤΑΣΤΙΚΟ!!!

Alicja & Thanos,

Now, even after two weeks, that were absolutely amazing, we will miss you both. Thank you for showing us the most beautiful Ionian Islands. Every day was a great adventure. With each day, each island, each swim - each lunch - each meal, we were so impressed.

It is obvious that with Thanos - your knowledge of sailing, Alicja - your talent as a cook and swimmer, that your talents make for an exceptional team! We especially appreciated getting to know you both and for sharing your lives with us. You both made this trip such a pleasure; each smile, each laugh, every instruction you gave us was with such kindness and patience, especially since so few of us had any sailing experience.

I know that for some the length of our experience was a bit pressing, but for me, it could have easily had another week – at least with you, and done more sailing.
Perhaps, sometime in the future, Vere and I or others may be able to again join you for another sail. I so enjoyed the lulling gentle sail of the boat and the feel of the wind upon my face, I know I as well as others will remember this trip for the rest of our lives.

Best of luck Alicja on completing your cookbook. Please send us an email when it is finished so we can get a copy. The food was so exceptional, and of course, we will remember your swimming and pulling us along in the dinghy.

This trip – if we may copy Thanos – was most unusual!

Thank you for a most amazing experience! We had a super, stellar, /fabulous/ time with you both on board the Velos for two weeks in the Ionian (June 26 - July 10, 2011). It was all that I dreamed it would be, and I dream big!
Thanos, I especially appreciate your patience with my endless questions over the months as I organized this trip for our group of eight. You took the time to explain everything to me, and offered lots of helpful tips about our time before and after the sail.
Alicia, of course your cooking was as spectacular as the testimonials said it would be, but your sunny disposition and Wonder Woman superpowers really added something special. (And the pina coladas were a nice touch!)

You both worked hard to subtly but effectively tailor the trip to us, making sure everyone had a wonderful time -- down to seeing that Vere and I always had tzatziki and Nancy never ran out of ice!

I could go on at length about what a marvelous time I had, but suffice it say that it is my fondest hope to earn Anko's "fifth sail free" trip! One down, three to go...

If someone were considering a sail with you, here is what I would tell them...

Read the website thoroughly. Especially read the blog (not from our trip) that is linked here httpss://ourioniancruise.blogspot.com/2010/09/our-ionian-cruise-on-velos.html

Email Thanos if you have any questions.

If it sounds good, go for it! Just do it. Trust that it will be great, because it will. Anko truly delivers what they promise. The boat is beautiful and comfortable, Alicia and Thanos are charming, fun, and considerate hosts, not to mention highly skilled sailors. When arriving in a harbor, we consistently felt a bit smug about the superiority of our yacht and crew!
The food Alicia made was by far the best we had on the trip. They took us to historic harbors, remote ports and interesting coves, and pointed out fun things to do on land. It was the trip of a lifetime for our group, and if it sounds good to you, I don't doubt you'll love it as much as we did. Do it!

Once you decide to go... Listen to Thanos' advice! He really knows Greece, especially the areas he sails, and he knows how to make your holiday great. Read to FAQs on the website. Don't over pack. Bring only casual clothes -- aqua socks are a help, as is your own snorkeling mask. Don't fret too much about seasickness -- we had a few folks prone to it, and they did fine.
Once there... Use the toilets according to the directions. 'Nuff said. Recognize that Alicia's superpowers (I'll let you discover what they are!) are renewed by the sea. She must swim a couple of times a day to execute all those amazing feats.
Don't forget the sunscreen, and take lots of pictures to document what will likely be the trip of a lifetime!

Dzieki Wam spedzaja sie nasze marzenia sprzed wielu (trzydziestu!) lat. Jednak choc rzadko sie to zdarza, rzeczywistosc przerosla marzenie!
Przecudne krajobrazy, bogactwo natury, niebianska kuchnia Alicji – to wszystko pozwala nam przyblizyc sie wszystkimi zmyslami Grecji. Ogladamy ten piekny swiat z bliska, z dala od tlumow turystow. Zadne slowa nie oddadza w pelni naszego zachwytu, radosci, wdziecznosci. Wakacje na Waszej lozi daly nam najczystszy relaks, oddzielenie od czasu I rzeczywistosci.

Alicjo – Twoja grecka kuchnia to najwyzszy kunszt. Przyblizylas nam smaki, zapachy przepysznej kuchni Grecji.
Thanosie – ogromne opanowanie, profesjonalizm, najczystsz, wielki urok osobisty, dawaly nam poczucie bezpieczenstwa I pozwalaly zaznac morskiej przygody.
Mozna by tak pisac I pisac w nieskonczonosc I nigdy nie wyczerpac tematu :)
Zakochalismy sie w Grecji I bedziemy tu wracac. Was polubilismy bardzo I juz tesknimy do nastepnego rejsu!

Thanos and Alicja,

Thank you so much for such an extraordinary vacation. I had an amazing time each and every day... and every day was better than the last, just kept getting better and better! I have such a nice memory of each island we visited – from Aegina both our first and last night, to the little day trip islands snorkeling around, to Platanos on Poros, then hiking around Vathy and picking our own fish dinner – yummy, and Dancing!

To Hydra and seeing Poseidon and all the donkeys, and I honestly could go on and on. Now I can’t imagine finishing off my semester in Greece any other way. This was absolutely perfect. Chasing dolphins was hands down the coolest thing ever!

Adopting your gourmet lunches to my many food allergies along with Nick vegetarianism, I had never had better, more delicious and varied dishes! Really never needed dinners out!
Snorkeling and picturesque bays for relaxing were delightful. Cabins are beautiful and airy, the dark rich wood so lovely.

A SAILING RECIPE
Start out with a sparkling clean 56’ vessel, warm Saronic days, and crystal clear bay water. Add one very particular professional Captain, and one swimmingly wonderful gourmet chef. Then stir. Add to the mixture some cheery British entertainment, 2 delightful American students abroad, and a stodgy old couple just along for the ride. Shake and mix well.
Enjoy slowly.

Skończyliśmy przepiękny rejs z Alicją i Thanassisem na Velos. Tak, płynęliśmy szczęśliwi i roześmiani od jednego bajecznego miejsca do drugiego! Nasza mała grupka, szczęśliwa, międzynarodowa siódemka! Bonnie i Robert z Kaliforni, (starsza para – ale dopiero 3 lata po ślubie), Richard, też z USA, ale właściwie pochodzi z Belfastu i pół roku podróżuje sam po świecie. My, to znaczy Krysia z Polski, ja tez Polka, ale z Niemiec.

Nasza podróż była harmonijna, a towarzystwo doborowe: okraszana wesołymi powiedzonkami Roberta i jego szczerym, amerykańskim śmiechem. Bonnie, cichutka, o brązowych, ładnych oczach, miła Amerykanka. Richard kochający wiatr i w swym kapeluszu panamskim, stojący na dziobie, robił zdjęcia każdego, przepięknego miejsca. Az wreszcie wiatr strącił mu ten kapelusz do morskiej toni! Tyle szczęśliwych, słonecznych wspomnień…

Pogodę mieliśmy nie tylko w duszach naszych, ale i na co dzień. Pływałyśmy za Alicją w pięknych zatoczkach, malowniczych, zaczarowanych, jak w bajce miejscach, w głębokim i czystym morzu. Krysia z maską oglądała życie podwodne. Richard skakał z łódki na bombę, a Krysia uczyła się skoków na główkę pod instrukcją Alicji. Ale najpierw było śniadanko przepyszne: miód, dżemy Alicji: ze śliwek powidła, dżem z fig, do tego mesli, jogurt, a jaka kawa i chlebek! A nasze codziennie inne, smakowite obiady, spożywane na zewnątrz z winkiem i nie tylko. Paluszki lizać.

Tak smacznych i lekkich potraw z rybami, jarzynami i przyprawami nigdzie i nikt nie potrafi lepiej przyrządzać. I to czasem w biegu, potrzeba postawić lub zmienić żagle, do czego Alicja była potrzebna. No bo ani para ‘młodych’ (68 i 72 lata przyp. aut.) z Kalifornii, ani Richard rodem z Belfastu, który odbył swoją pierwszą podroż na jachcie, ani ja, nie potrafimy. Za to Krysia sternik oraz żeglarz wód Pojezierza Mazurskiego, była pomocna i wiedziała, co do czego służy!

Oj, jak pięknie było – to sami wiecie, jeśli lubicie pływać na pełnych żaglach na morzu. Niezapomniane porty, porciki i zatoczki, zawsze inne w tych dobrych i pięknych miejscach w kochanej Grecji. Delfiny płynęły i wyskakiwały w powietrze razem z nami. A my szczęliwi, że zaszczyciły nas swoją obecnością. Dziękujemy Wam kochani, za wszystkie minuty, godziny, dnie, tego szczęliwego czasu spędzonego na ślicznej łódce VELOS! Zyczymy Wam udanych rejsów, pomyślnych wiatrów i miłych załogantów na przyszłość

Kolejny, wspaniały rejs. Tym razem z Lefkady, przez Kanał Koryncki do Pireusu. Dla porządku:

Elena i Huan – Portugalia
Dorota oraz Jurek – Polska

Na maszcie cztery flagi, bo jeszcze grecka. Itaka stała się naszym wybawieniem (schronieniem w trakcie sztormu). A Huan – zabawieniem (nieplanowana kąpiel w porcie Egina). Jachty z izraelską załogą kotwiczyły bez kotwicy. A my, mając profesjonalną załogę mogliśmy się śmiać z innych. Ostatni nocleg na Alexandrosie i chyba moje pożegnanie z tym jachtem.

Żeglowaliśmy jak Odyseusz: z Lefkady na Meganisi, Itakę, Kastos. Skąpani w słońcu, w pianie morskiej (a czasem w winie) podziwialiśmy piękno tych wyspiarskich terenów. Ale po raz kolejny największe wrażenie zrobił na nas Kapitan Thanos, ze swoim cudownym spokojem człowieka (z doświadczeniem wilka morskiego) oraz Alicja, Syrenka – kobieta pływająca, żeglująca, gotująca i organizująca czas załodze.

Wy najlepiej wiecie, jak jesteśmy zadowoleni i zachwyceni Wami i Waszym pięknym nowym JACHTEM!
Do następnego lata… Roma i Maciej Gorgoń – Żywiec

To ja, Słoneczko i moja Luba. Dużo gadam, ale słabo piszę. Czasami trudno wyrazić uczucia. Jesteśmy zauroczeni. Jesteście najlepsi. Możecie być pewni, że wrócimy!

Wasza serdeczność, profesjonalizm, niezwykła gościnność były najważniejsze podczas tego rejsu. Stworzyliście taką atmosfere, ze nasze międzynarodowe towarzystwo (Peter i Michele – USA, Tony i Sue – Anglia, Kasia i Damian – PL, Agieliki – Grecja), polubiło się, zgrało i wygląda na to, ze będziemy za sobą tęsknic.
Alicjo, jesteś mistrzynią świata w pokazaniu nam kuchni greckiej, światowej, Twoje dania przewyższały te z tawern. Podziwiamy Twoje umiejętności pływackie! Piękno greckich wysp dorównywało atmosferze rejsu.
Thanosie, jesteś profesjonalistą w każdym calu. No i najważniejsze: ‘Wodę pija tylko zwierzęta’! (Water for animals only ;))

Z pewnością powtórzymy ta przygodę z Wami Świetnie nam się mieszkało w waszym pięknym, szybkim i wygodnym jachcie. Ten rejs był przygoda życia.

What a wonderful week of sailing in the Saronic Gulf! So fun to have some good wind – but really enjoyed Alicja’s cuisine (can’t wait for that cookbook to be published!).

What a way to start the season! Thanos and Alicja are the consummate hosts and teachers. We had no idea what to expect except that it would be an adventure!

The sailing was so exciting but at the same time relaxing – the very best way to see and appreciate Greece. Such beautiful, private lunch stops. And did we mention food? It couldn't have been better! Alicja knows how to entice the palate and delight the eye. It was a delicious introduction to the country. Better than many of the restaurants we tried!

Peter thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to sail the ship. He seized the moments when it was offered and relished his time behind the wheel. Thanos' patience – priceless!

As for myself, so many photo opportunities not to mention reading time and a chance to enjoy our hosts and meet new friends.
It has been an experience of a lifetime – one we would love to recreate in others islands with Thanos, Alicja and company.

I really would rather stay, I have had a wonderful time, even though the weather wasn’t too great at the start and I was sick, but oh well, it’s all part of the experience, and what an experience this has been! I have loved every minute of it and would not have changed it!

Thanos, your ability to get us to each new and exotic location, through stormy seas will never cease to amaze me! Also, your jokes and stories, as well as magic has kept me entertained all week!

Liebe Gäste der Alexandros,

Acht Tage haben wir auf der Yacht verbracht, eine Erlebnisreise mit den vielfältigsten Eindrücken und Genüssen:
Wir erlebten die landschaftliche Schönheit griechischer Inseln, die kulturelle Vielfalt ihrer Bewohner und eine einzigartige Architektur, die von den Insulanern eine hohe Fertigkeit und Wissen abverlangt.

Besonders freuten wir uns über einen zusätzlichen Tag auf Hydra, deren Besonderheit als „verkehrsfreie Zone“ Nachahmer finden sollte. Neben den zahlreichen Eseln, Maultieren und Pferden prägten die Katzen das Ortsbild. Die zutraulichen Vierbeiner schienen wohl allesamt miteinander verwandt. Abends durften wir in den Tavernen von Ägina, Poros, Ermioni, Hydra und Agistri die reichen Genüsse der griechischen Küche kennen lernen.

Dass diese Reise, auf der es auch Einiges über die Kunst des Segelns zu lernen gab, zu einem so schönen und unvergesslichen Erlebnis wurde, verdanken wir unseren Gastgebern an Bord: Alicja und Thanassis! Stets freundlich und kompetent, fühlten wir uns bei ihnen bestens aufgehoben. Täglich durften wir Alicjas Kochkunst bewundern und Thanassis Segelkompetenz bestaunen.

Das Schönste war aber die tolle familiäre Atmosphäre, die selbst durch gelegentliche sintflutartige Regenfälle, starken Wind und Seekrankheit keine Sekunde getrübt wurde. Wir wünschen euch, Alicja und Thanassis, noch viele erfolgreiche Segeltörns – euch gilt unser Tausend Dank! Ihr seid ein Superteam!

Właśnie minęły 2 tygodnie wspaniałej przygody, która niewątpliwie zapadnie w pamięć całej naszej załodze!
Było wszystko, co tylko można sobie wymarzyć; piękne wyspy i zatoki, podwodne krajobrazy i wspaniała pogoda i wszystko to okraszone niebagatelnymi doznaniami kulinarnymi serwowanymi przez Alicję.

Nawet 8 w skali Beauforta przegrywa z opanowaniem kapitana Thanassisa, nawet zerwana lina, czy zepsuty silnik nie są w stanie wyprowadzić Go z równowagi. (Nawet, gdy zginęła nam wycieraczka).
Pełni nadziei na przyszłość czekamy na kolejne wyprawy po innych akwenach, bez wątpienia na Alexandrosie!

Była też sobie młoda Polka, która marzyła o poznaniu świata i o żeglowaniu. Też ją wszystko radowało i chciała się tym dzielić z innymi.
I tak się stało, że ten młody Grek, kapitan jachtu spotkał tą młodą Polkę. I postanowili razem iść przez świat i spędzić niezwykłe życie. I odtąd gdzie się pojawili to radość i szczęście promieniowało od nich na innych. I inni wokoło też stają się szczęśliwsi. Żeglują po morzach. Warto ich spotkać. Nazywają się Thanassis i Alicja.

Kochani!

Cały ten tydzień był niesamowity! Dziękujemy za tak miło spędzony czas. Opanowanie Kapitana i pozytywna energia Alicji to najwspanialsza składanka.

Dzięki Kapitanowi umiemy tańczyć ‘sirtaki’, a Jego cudowna żona zadbała o nasze podniebienia. Dopiero w połowie rejsu zorientowaliśmy się, że Kapitan Thanos to potomek Odyseusza i w genach ma żeglowanie; a Alicja to syrenka, którą złowił i pokochał, zresztą z wzajemnością. Ten swój czar mityczny wykorzystują dla zadowolenia swoich turystów – żeglarzy. I dlatego jest z nimi tak pięknie, tak sympatycznie, tak smacznie i niezapomnianie!

Za wszystko Wam dziękujemy KOCHANI LUDZIE MORZA. Po spotkaniu tak miłej pary pozytywnie ogląda się SWIAT. Mamy nadzieję na ponowne żeglowanie z Wami tej wersji będziemy się trzymać. ‘Navigare necessere est’ czyli ‘żeglowanie jest koniecznością’.

What an incredible holiday! I cannot remember how long it has been since we boarded in Athens, and I wish it wasn’t almost over. Your hospitality is outstanding, we truly feel we have new friends. I enjoyed the night sailing and the crossing was better than we expected.

Thanks for arranging all types of weather, sun, wind and rain. The ports were great to visit and Thanos you always know the best tavernas with the best food. Especially roast lamb at Georges’s, Gyros on Ithaka and the Old Store taverna. It is a good thing we always ate supper late because we were full from Alicja’s delicious lunches. Thank you for sharing your passion with us.

Wow! Wow! It had been a really hard ten weeks in Iraq before I arrived at the yacht on June 13. I was tired, worn out and so in need of a break and you gave me everything I needed. It was relaxing, fun, at times exciting and always an adventure.

Z dalekiego Colorado transformacja w wilków morskich przyszła nam niespodziewanie łatwo dzięki uśmiechowi Alicji i profesjonalizmowi Thanosa. Później już wiatr, słońce i urok kolejnych wysp dokonały reszty.

Jednak bogowie Grecji starożytnej mieli rację wybierając to miejsce na raj na ziemi. Zaproszenie w Góry Skaliste jest dla Was zawsze otwarte

Dear Thanos and Alicja,

I knew from when researching this holiday and our emails that our sailing trip with you would be a trip to remember. It was a perfect trip. Your warmth of character and amazing considerate host skills made us all feel at home on your boat.

Thanos, your knowledge of sailing and ease at teaching was a welcome advantage while making us feel safe at sea.
Alicja, I wish I had your cooking skills. I know all of us were excited for our delicious home made Greek meals every single day.
Both your stories and conversations was very much enjoyed. The Greek Islands were even more beautiful than I could have imagined, thanks to sharing your knowledge and secret tips of the areas.

I will fondly remember seeing Dolphins, swimming in the middle of the sea and trying to keep up with the boat, sailing to Poros from Serifos with the sun rising, Greek dancing (taught by Greek women from Athens) in the main street of Sifnos. Barry will remember all the sailing experiences and the many different Gyros he tasted at each island!
Thank you for making this such a special trip for the both of us. We will stay in touch and hope to join you again in the future to explore another area of the Greek Islands.

We were looking forward to this trip for a while and now very sad to go home! From no wind and still waters to force 8 and 5 meters waves, it was quite an adventure – and one we would do again. The islands are beautiful, but it was the journey (with great company!) that made it the most fun. It certainly went by too fast, but will hopefully take the trip again.

You both make such a wonderful couple – have safe and fun travels in your lives together. We felt very welcome in your home. Let us know if you ever make the journey together across the Atlantic, and Alicia, I would be very happy to have you write a recipe book of all your delicious food!

Thank you for the memories we will never forget. The world is so peaceful at sea, even when the winds don’t cooperate. It is something everyone should experience. Thank you for sharing your home, food, stories, and the sea!

Wspolnie z Thanassisem i Alicją przeżyliśmy wspaniały tydzień na Morzu Jońskim. Posejdon wiele wiatru nie dal, ale uchronił nas tez przed burza. Za to mu dziękujemy, a szczególnie damska część załogi. Mamy nadzieje, ze spotkamy się z Wami na pokładzie jakiejś łajby i to już za rok! Pomyślnych wiatrów!

Alicia και Θανάση,

Ήταν η πρώτη μας φορά που κάναμε ιστιοπλοΐα και μπορώ να ομολογήσω πως αν και κουραστήκαμε λίγο, το απολαύσαμε ΠΟΛΥΥΥ!
Το να σηκώνεις τη τζένοα θέλει γερά μπράτσα (όχι ότι δεν τα διαθέτω χα χα) και γερά νεύρα! Χαρήκαμε πολύ την πειθαρχεία σου Θανάση και το λεπτό σου χιούμορ! Alicia είσαι ένα δελφίνι που έχει υποστεί ανθρωπομορφισμό!!

Chciało by się zatrzymać czas, tak piękne dni przeżywamy na ‘Alexandrosie’ pod wodzą Thanassisa i opieką Alicji.

Z każdą milą pokonaną na Morzu Egejskim odkrywaliśmy wspaniałe wyspy, uroki małych miasteczek. Zadziwiające rozwiązania architektury dopasowanej do trudnych warunków naturalnych. Poznaliśmy możliwości życia na tych wyspach, gdzie trudne, górzyste tereny nie odstraszały mieszkańców. Na Hydrze dzięki osłom i mułom transport najróżniejszych towarów, po stromych, wąskich ścieżkach albo schodach, był możliwy.

Przepłynięcie Kanału Korynckiego to zaszczyt. ‘Nasz’ jacht mógł przedostać się z Morza Egejskiego na M. Jońskie bez opływania Płw. Peloponeskiego, co nie było możliwe w dawnych czasach.

Wspaniały ‘Alexandros’ z nieustraszonym kapitanem zafundowali nam dwa dni żeglowania przy ‘ósemce’. Targane wiatrem żagle, świst wiatru na wantach, przechyły łodzi dały obraz siły morza. Chwile pełne grozy, a potem radość szczęśliwego cumowania pozostaną na zawsze w pamięci.

Czas krótki, zaledwie tydzień, lecz cudowna, wspaniała przygoda. Żeglarstwo to piękny sposób na Zycie. Obawiamy się, ze połknęliśmy haczyk i jest to dopiero początek.

Spotkaliśmy wspaniałych ludzi; to Wy, Alicjo i Thanassis. Przebywanie z Wami pozwoliło oddalić prozę codziennego życie, być radosnym, szczęśliwym. Do tego wszystkiego słońce, wiatr, trochę alkoholu i przesmaczne potrawy przygotowywane przez Alicje. Atmosfera na Alexandrosie była urzekająca.
Za to wszystko bardzo, bardzo dziękujemy!

Zaokrętowaliśmy się na ‘Alexandrosie’ trochę niepewni, trochę nieufni, co nas spotka…
Wyokrętowaliśmy się pełni żalu, ze ta przygoda się skończyła, gdyż spotkaliśmy tu dwoje wspaniałych ludzi, dzięki którym poznaliśmy:
- uroki greckich wysp
- radość żeglowania w zmiennych warunkach (od 0°B do 7°B)
- tajniki wyśmienitej greckiej kuchni
Dzięki temu wracamy do Polski odmłodzeni pozostawiając na S/Y Alexandros duży kawał serca.
